So for the 4th of July, NY light off fireworks over the Hudson River. So May, Brittani and I decided that we would fight through the crowds, and go to the river and watch them. So may and I headed over first to find a good spot to watch them. We went over early, since we didn't have any blankets or chairs, we wanted to find a bench. We went over to the pier where there were benches lining it all the way down. We got there at about 5 or 6? and they didnt start until 9:30/10:00... So we had a bit of time to kill. It was so pretty out there, and we got to watch the sunset behind the skyline, awesome! Definitely worth the wait!

May and I

May and her roommate Miran, she just moved back to Utah... very sad

A little while later Brittani came down and enjoyed it all with us. She brought some face cards down with her, and we were sitting there trying to think of a game we could play on our laps with 3 people. So we figured, GO FISH!! So while we're playing this lady looks over at us and starts laughing, she said that she hadn't seen anyone playing go fish in a really long time, let alone 3 grown women... I love shocking people =)

So fireworks are about to start. it's the time that they say it will and a little bit down the river, there is a little red building. And we notice that there are some fireworks going off and we can barely see the very tips of them about the roof... we were like SERIOUSLY??? we just waited 5 hours and we can't even see them???? So a few minutes of this, Brittani and thought that we could run and maybe make it to the other side of the building. May didn't think that they were the right ones and wanted to stick around. So me and Brittani take off, we're fighting the irritating crowd, we get all the way through them and to the end of the pier when... BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! These HUGE fireworks start going off right in front of our faces... So the ones we saw earlier were NOT the real ones... and we gave up our awesome place for it. We didn't want to fight the crowd again to go find may so we just hung out there and watched them, we could still see okay though...

My favorite part about fireworks in NYC is that they reflect on the high-rise buildings, pictures don't do it justice...

And of course, the Empire State building (aka my neighbor :) Always lights up and changes for different holidays, was red, white and blue.

Great 4th of July!! Hope everyone else had a good one to!!
